3.4 Material. Taglines shall be fabricated from compatible materials, inherently corrosion resistant or treated to provide protection against the various forms of corrosion and deterioration that may be encountered in any of the applicable operating and storage environments to which the taglines may be exposed.
3.5 Treatment and painting. Unless otherwise specified, the taglines shall be cleaned, treated and painted in accordance with the manufacturer's normal method for the commercial market. When specified (see 7.2), the portions of the tagline normally painted shall be cleaned, treated, and painted in accordance with MIL-T-704, type F or G, as applicable. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2), the finish coat shall be the manufacturer's standard color provided the finished paint thickness required by MIL-T-704 is met. When specified (see 7.2), chemical agent resistant coating (CARC) conforming to MIL-DTL-53039 or MIL-DTL-64159 shall be required.
3.6 Transportability. The taglines shall be capable of highway, rail, and marine transport.
3.6.1 Lifting and tiedown attachments. When specified (see 7.2), the taglines shall have lifting and tiedown attachments. Instructions for the use of the attachments or procedures shall be included on plates permanently affixed to the taglines.
3.7 Preparation for delivery. Prior to delivery, the taglines shall be serviced as required with lubricants for all moving parts. Means to lubricate these parts as required shall also be provided. Pressure lubrication fittings shall not be used where normal lubricating pressure may damage grease or other parts. The taglines lubrication shall include filling tagline barrels when required by design. The tagline shall be conspicuously tagged to identify the lubricants and their temperature range. When specified (see 7.2), the tagline shall be lubricated with military lubricants and required military lubricants shall be as specified by the procuring activity.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). For the purpose of this requirement, recovered materials are
those materials which have been collected from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials as distinguished from virgin raw materials. The component pieces and parts incorporated in the taglines may be newly fabricated from recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, provided the taglines produced meet all other requirements of this item
